Craftyard Collective
The Craftyard is Nature Kids Collective’s outdoor, process-based art space, where creativity is about the experience—not making a “perfect” finished product.
Throughout the year, we’ll offer seasonal workshops inspired by nature and the changing seasons, giving kids opportunities to gather, build, paint, sculpt, tinker, and experiment with natural and traditional art materials.
Projects will change with the seasons, but the philosophy stays the same: the ideas, problem-solving, and creating belong to the kids.

Spooky Fairy House Workshop

Only 10 spots are available for this special Nature Kids workshop!
Spend Indigenous Peoples’ Day morning outside with Nature Kids Collective for a special three-hour workshop filled with nature, creativity, and just the right amount of spooky-season magic.
Each child will receive a blank wooden fairy house to transform into a one-of-a-kind spooky woodland creation. We’ll begin by exploring and gathering natural materials—sticks, bark, fallen leaves, acorns, pinecones, stones, dried flowers, and whatever other tiny treasures catch their eye.
Then the building begins.
With the materials they gathered and shared art supplies*, kids will dream up and create their houses. Maybe it becomes a tiny witch cottage, a home for friendly forest ghosts, a moss-covered fairy hideaway, or something we haven’t even imagined yet.
About the Process
There’s no example to copy and no “right” way to build. The ideas, problem-solving, and creating belong to the kids.
This is a process-based art experience, which means we’re much more interested in the making than a “perfect” finished product. We want kids to experiment, change their minds, solve problems, follow an unexpected idea, get a little messy, and enjoy watching their own creations take shape.
Younger Siblings
Younger siblings are always welcome to come along at no additional cost and enjoy the outdoor space with their caregiver.
If a younger sibling would like to create alongside the big kids, a smaller fairy house kit can be purchased for $25 and must be reserved in advance at registration. We will only have kits available for children who have pre-ordered one.
Grown-Ups, This Part Is for You
This is a caregiver-present program, but we encourage grown-ups to hang back as much as possible while the kids explore, build, experiment, and figure things out on their own.
We’ll have complimentary coffee, tea, and cider for caregivers, so you can settle in nearby while giving your child plenty of room to create independently. We encourage you to bring your own craft to work on!
What’s Included
Each registered child will receive a pre-built wooden fairy house to design, decorate, and take home. Nature Kids Collective will provide shared craft materials and tools to complement all of the treasures kids collect outdoors.
We’ll also leave room throughout the morning for snacks, lunch, exploring, free play, and simply being outside together.
What to Bring
This workshop is fully outdoors, rain or shine, so please dress everyone for the weather and for getting messy.
Bring snacks and/or lunch, plenty of water, a picnic blanket, and your family’s usual outdoor necessities. Depending on the forecast, layers, boots, rain gear, bug spray, or sunscreen may also be helpful.
